Removal Dentures

Removal dentures are made out of acrylic plastic and are retained in the mouth with the help of metal clips or clasps. Rendering highly aesthetic look, these dentures can be easily removed without our medical assistance. They are also very easy to maintain and light on the pocket of our patients. We suggest these dentures for patients who do not have strong teeth adjoining the missing one(s).

GROWING ACCUSTOMED TO A REMOVABLE PARTIAL DENTURE:

Inserting and removing the new removable partial denture takes some practice. It may feel awkward for the first few weeks. However, your mouth should eventually become accustomed to it. The partial denture should fit into place with relative ease.

Dr. Wesley can explain how long the removable partial denture should be worn and when it should be removed. At first, you may be asked to wear it all the time. While this may temporarily cause discomfort, it is the quickest way to identify any parts requiring adjustment. If the removable partial denture puts too much pressure on one area, the spot will become sore. Dr. Wesley can adjust the removable partial denture to fit more comfortably. Once adjusted, Dr. Wesley may recommend that you remove the partial denture before going to sleep and replace it when you awaken.

Once your missing teeth are replaced, eating should be a much more pleasant experience. Since missing teeth can make it difficult to speak clearly, wearing a removable partial denture can help with that, too.

As with full dentures, the stability of a partial denture can be improved through the use of dental adhesives. Over time, as you age and your mouth changes, your removable partial denture may no longer fit well. It could also break; crack or chip, or one of the teeth could loosen. In many instances, Dr. Wesley can make the necessary adjustment or repair on the same day. Complicated repairs may take longer.

ALTERNATE SOLUTION TO A REMOVABLE PARTIAL DENTURE:

There is a more permanent solution to a removable or fixed partial denture. An implant-supported bridge or sometimes referred to as an implant-supported partial denture, may be the best solution for you. Unlike traditional removable partial dentures, an implant-supported bridge or partial denture stays secure and strong, and won’t cause problems with adjacent teeth. An implant-supported bridge or partial denture is so comfortable and natural; they’ll look and feel just like your own teeth.
